Prior Authorization Specialist

Location: Hempstead, NY
Schedule: Full-time, on-site
Compensation: $22-$24 per hour, based on experience

We are seeking an organized and dependable Prior Authorization Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and experience working with medical offices and insurance companies.

Responsibilities:

• Submit and track prior authorization requests
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage
• Obtain required clinical documentation
• Communicate with providers, patients, and insurance companies
• Follow up on pending authorizations, denials, and appeals
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records

Qualifications:

• Prior authorization or medical office experience preferred
• Familiarity with insurance portals and electronic health records
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple requests and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA requirements is preferred
