Logistics Coordinator

Kent Worldwide™ has an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Coordinator to play a key role in keeping our supply chain moving efficiently. In this position, you will coordinate the flow of materials and shipments, support on-time and cost-effective deliveries, maintain transportation and inventory records, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where managing priorities and building strong partnerships are essential to success.

This opportunity is designed and intended to be performed in Muscatine, IA.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Source one of several modes of transportation (air, barge, truck, LTL, rail, vessel, containers) to move Kent Corporations' products from multiple locations to customer's facilities.
• Coordinate the shipping activities and maintain open communication with Production, Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Warehousing, and all off-site warehousing and carriers.
• Assign appropriate carriers and tender several modes of freight, foreign and domestic.
• Prepare and manage shipping documents, including invoices, bills of lading, and export/import documentation.
• Continually monitor scheduled loading/delivery schedules to ensure compliance.
• Communicate to Customer Service any deviation from those schedules to facilitate timely notification to the customer.
• Pursue all opportunities to improve the value service provided by interacting with the existing base of contract carriers and outside warehouse personal.
• Implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential disruptions in the supply chain.
• Maintain a level of training to ensure performance of tasks associated with other departmental responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and/or Qualifications:

• Typically requires an Associate's degree in a relevant field plus 2-3 years' experience; a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or AgBusiness, Economics, or related discipline is strongly desired.
• Basic understanding of processes to support transportation logistics; familiar with variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within the transportation logistics realm.
• Strong communication and people management skills with ability to cultivate strong business relationships on multiple levels.
• Customer-service oriented, personable, and positive attitude; understands the value of cooperating with coworkers.
• Evidence of ability to prioritize responsibilities.
• Strongly proficient in a host of computer-based software applications, e.g., Microsoft Office.
• Evidence of ability to analyze schedules/data/costs and make recommendations.
• Prior transportation dispatching preferred.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Process Improvement experience is a plus.
• Experience of Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• Knowledge of laws, regulations and ISO requirements is a plus.
• Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes.

Travel Expected:

• 5% - travel between locations for meetings, if needed
