Job Title: Industrial Electrician

Job Description

This Industrial Electrician role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components for industrial machinery and equipment. Working closely with the Lead Electrician and under the guidance of the Power and Automation Manager, you will split your time between plant maintenance electrician work and industrial/commercial electrical work, with a strong emphasis on troubleshooting and supporting automated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components on industrial machinery and equipment.
• Perform both plant maintenance electrician duties and industrial/commercial electrician work, with approximately a 50/50 split between the two.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues on systems operating at 480V, ensuring safe and effective resolution of problems.
• Identify and repair faults in motors, gauges, pumps, conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and other electrical components.
• Support and maintain automated equipment, including PLCs and VFDs, to ensure reliable operation of production processes.
• Perform mechanical maintenance on pumps, motors, belts, and gears as needed to keep equipment running efficiently.
• Bend conduit and run/pull wire for new installations, modifications, and repairs to electrical infrastructure.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and equipment manuals to perform accurate maintenance and repairs.
• Collaborate with the Lead Electrician and Power and Automation Manager to prioritize work, coordinate projects, and support continuous improvement of the electrical department.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns on shift, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Follow all safety procedures and best practices when working with electrical systems and industrial machinery.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the electrical department by sharing knowledge and supporting process improvements.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Plant Electrician or industrial/commercial electrician.
• Hands-on experience with industrial or commercial electrical systems in a plant or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical components, including motors, gauges, pumps, conveyor systems, and material handling equipment.
• Ability to work safely with 480V electrical systems and related equipment.
• Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and automated equipment in an industrial setting.
• Capability to bend conduit and run/pull wire for installations and repairs.
• Solid understanding of controls systems and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
• Mechanical aptitude for maintaining pumps, motors, belts, and gear assemblies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while coordinating with team members.
• Eagerness to learn, adapt, and advance within a growing electrical department
• Industrial/commercial Electrician or Plant Electrician experience handling equipment.
• Familiarity with automated production environments and control systems.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, such as schematics and equipment manuals.

Work Environment

This position is on 3rd shift, working from 10:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with days off either Saturday–Sunday or Sunday–Monday. The role is based inside a garlic processing facility located off a major freeway, surrounded by fields and primarily accessed through a dirt lot. The building is older and somewhat worn, and the maintenance department is located outside under a covered area without air conditioning. Conditions can become dusty, especially when the wind picks up, and you should be comfortable working in this type of environment. Typical attire includes boots and jeans, suitable for an industrial, production-focused setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Bakersfield,CA.
